Street Mural Coming To Victory Heights

A virtual representation of the new street mural just north of the park

On Friday, August 19th, work will begin on painting a street mural on the roadway just north of Victory Heights Park where NE 106th Street intersects with 19th Avenue NE.

Read the complete minutes of the Victory Heights Community Council meeting.

Artist Daemion Kenyon designed the mural, and on August 19th while the street is shut down between 2 PM and 8 PM, she will begin by painting the white outlines on the road surface (come by to watch during Food Truck Friday that evening).

On Friday, September 9th, also during Food Truck Friday, starting at 5 PM, members of the community will be able to help participate in the mural by painting in the colors like a giant coloring book! The street will also be shut down between 4-9 PM.

Finally, on Sunday, September 11th from 3-8 PM, a final street closure will allow Daemion to apply the sealer over the art to help preserve it. If you can’t participate in the painting, she is looking for donations to help offset the cost of the paint, brushes, materials. Learn more about the artist and support the project HERE!

In other news, Food Truck Fridays has been extended into September now with added dates on the 2nd and 9th. See the Food Truck Schedule HERE.

And TeenFeed provides a nutritious, hot meal to 65 homeless teens every day of the year.  Victory Heights is committed to providing that meal on the second Monday of every month. In September it will be on 12th. It’s easy to get involved.  More information HERE! Future dates are October 10th, November 14th and December 12th. Mark your calendars and help get involved.
