What’s coming up in Victory Heights for late May/early June:
June 2nd: Seattle City Council public hearing on The Transportation Levy to Move Seattle. Stephanie Zimsen will be speaking at the hearing about the need for the Northgate pedestrian/bike bridge (which we were briefed on at the last Community Council meeting). 5:30 PM, Council Chambers, 600 4th Avenue, 2nd Floor.
June 5th: Community Sing Arts Workshop. Sponsored by Silver Kite Community Arts. A $10 workshop. 4 – 6 PM, George Center For Community, 2212 NE 125th Street.
June 6th: North District Police Station Open House. A briefing about the new precinct to be built at Aurora and NE 130th. 10 AM – noon, Bitter Lake Community Center Annex @ Broadview Thomas Elementary School, 13040 Greenwood Avenue N.
June 6th: Lake City Africa Celebration. The Lake City community will celebrate African cultures with food, music, dancing, displays of objects from Africa, a fashion show and crafts for the kids. Lake City Community Center, 12531 28th Ave. N.E., 5 – 9 PM.
June 12th: ‘A String,’ a play written and performed by a cast of 6 generations of women ages 15 to 74. This is the first performance by Silver Kite Community Arts‘ Intergenerational Theater Company.  Performances are June 12 at 7:30 pm and June 13 at 2 pm and 7:30 pm at George Center for Community.  Tickets are $10 general admission, discounts for seniors and students.
June 18th: Lake City Farmer’s Market Opens. Author Amy Pennington will use seasonal vegetables from the farmers market to demonstrate recipes between 4 & 5:30 PM. NE 125th Street & 28th Avenue NE
