Here are some events in and around Victory Heights in August that might interest you:
Friday, July 29th: Food Truck Friday, 5:30 PM – 7:30 on 19th Avenue NE across from Victory Heights Park. This week: Sam Choy’s Poke to the Max, Po’Boy & Tings, and Dreamy Drinks. PLUS: Love walkie-talkies? Give GMRS a spin. We have multiple radios to play with. Simple instructions followed by helpful practice. ALL ages welcome!
Tuesday, August 2nd: Neighborhood Night Out. Organize with the folks on your block and get to know them. It’s so important for crime prevention and in case of an emergency.
Wednesday, August 3rd, 4th, 9th & 10th: Blood Drive. It’s a crucial time to bolster our blood supply as appointment bookings are falling critically short of the 1,000 donors needed each day to meet community need this summer. Low appointment sign-ups are of significant concern. All blood types are needed, especially Universal Donors with Type O blood and Platelets, which are vital to supporting patients in trauma situations. People are urged to make appointments as soon as possible. Consider donating at the Faith Lutheran Church (8208 18th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98115) on August 3, 4, 9 & 10 and help make sure lifesaving blood is there for the patients who need it. Same-day appointments often available.
Friday, August 5th: Food Truck Friday (subject to change): Anthony’s “Finn” and Kathmandu MoMoCha.
Saturday, August 6th: Lake City Seafair Parade. The “Grand Parade” starts at 7 PM on Lake City Way from 135th to 125th, with a turn to the right to go west on 125th to 25th Ave NE.

Monday, August 15th: Victory Heights Community Council Meeting. Our first live in-person meeting since February 2020! It will be in the park starting at 7 PM at the tennis court. We’ll have chairs set up and you can see a demo of our Emergency Communications Hub.
Friday, August 19th: Food Truck Friday (subject to change): Yummy Catch and Tamale My Life.
Saturday, August 20th: 20th Annual Jokumfest, Victory Heights’ own live jazz festival! Live music from 3 PM until 10 PM. It will again be on the main stage in Gary Schudie’s backyard, 2021 NE Northgate Way. Complementary beverages and main dish will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share. It’s free!
Sunday, August 21st: North Seattle Jewish Festival. Come celebrate culture and community, Jewish pride and continuity. Inflatable activities for the young and young at heart, authentic kosher deli delights that we all know and love, friends, and of course live(ly) Klezmer and Hasidic music. Noon to 3 PM in Victory Heights Park. Tickets required.
