For the fifth year running, the Victory Heights Community Council has sponsored the Potluck/Ice Cream social on NE 106th Street next to the park, and neighbors have responded with another great turn out this year. On Tuesday, over 150 people (including many babies and dogs) showed up and put their mark on a map representing our neighborhood (over sixty different residences), brought their food to share, and ate free ice cream.
As in many years, the folks from Engine Company 40 in Wedgwood came by with their fire truck for tours after first having answered a call. The kids (and some adults) loved crawling over the fire truck and checking out the equipment.

Our new State Representative for the 46th District Javier Valdez (who just stepped in to replace Jessyn Farrell who quit to run for Seattle mayor) came by to meet his Victory Heights’ constituents.
Community Council Ann Forrest had a chance to address the crowd near the end and told people about our raffle to award someone a locking mailbox, and the election to pick a logo for our community to be used on official publications and on the “Welcome to Victory Heights” signs that we are going to purchase from the city. She also talked about the emergency preparedness drill we’ll be conducting next to the school starting at 9 AM on Saturday, July 29th.
